I often have days where I just cannot move. I feel out of breath and extremely tired. My doctor is not sure if I have hypertension because I do not have a family history, nor am I overweight and I am fairly young. She wants to be sure before putting me on meds. She thinks I may have "white coat syndrome". This is when people become nervous when seeing a doctor.

I am a 26 year old female with a blood pressure ranging from 116-118/76-78. I have never had hypertension. I am obese, however, with a strong family history of heart disease on my father’s side. I know what I need to do to be healthy, so please – no lectures. My specific question is regarding the likelihood of having coronary artery disease or severe atherosclerosis without any hypertension. Not just applying to me, either, but generally speaking. Thank you.

My baby was induced 2 months early because of scary blood pressures. 6 months later and I am still fairly heavily medicated for the hypertension. Is this unusual? Any ideas how to get my blood pressure under control?
I have lost the pregnancy weight but am still heavy. My blood pressure was good through most of the pregnancy until 7 mos.
I don’t add salt to anything I eat but don’t go out of my way to avoid when eating out.

I just wondered if atherosclerosis in the extremities (arms/legs) also has hypertension as a symptom. I know this is one clue to cardio-athersclerosis, but is this true of cases in the arms/legs and blockages leading to strokes?

I was just recently given a prescription for hypertension. At first, I was being given hydrochlorothiazide to help lower the fluid levels in my blood to help with lowering blood pressure. It helped some, but didn’t quite do the trick. So, now my doctor has recently prescribed amlodipine which is designed specifically for blood pressure treatment. How long does it take before you start noticing a drop in blood pressure?

I had a baby last year. I suffer from hypertension and have gained an extra 35 (through the pregnancy) that I now can’t get off. I have been trying different diets that don’t work or that are higher in sodium than what I need. I am getting frustrated with it. Please tell me some ideas (or foods) that I can try to lose the extra weight. I would appreciate any advice, web links that might help, or things that have worked for you personally.
