The Use of Blood Pressure Monitors in Hypertension
im 18 and my family has a history of hypertension. my cousin died from stroke at age 25 and almost everyone in my family has very high blood pressure. this worries me because i do as well…recently i took it and it was 140/80 with a heart rate of 110 and this was when i was relaxing. also when i sit down for long periods my feet get numb as well, occasionally my hands do too. i dont know if that is related but im just curious do you all have any ideas?
Can high blood pressure come time to time in your life or if you have hypertension is it forever ? Do they have a permant cure?
I heard some pills dehydrate you and some may reduce your blood pressure but increase your cholesterol. Are there any good meds for high blood pressure hypertension?
Hey Dr Frank, your answer is precisely my concern. From my research taking diuretics exactly cause dehydration. What I’m asking here is if anyone knows the name of particular drugs that reduce blood pressure without causing elevated cholesterol and no dehydration. I would like more pacific answers in terms of advice of what I’m actually looking for here, which is the big question above.
I ask this because I have a friend with hypertension who’s interested in taking prescription pills to treat his high blood pressure. Only problem is he’s been diagnose with high blood pressure and he knows that its hypertension because when ever he goes to the doctor his blood pressure testing is high, and when ever he goes to Walgreen’s or local supermarket to test his blood pressure it is normal. Can anyone tell him the names of blood pressure pills strictly for hypertension if they exist.
I didn’t have issues with high blood pressure until I got married or gained 65 lbs. Im not sure which is causing it because it varies from day to day. Ive lost about 70 lbs and im starting to get lightheaded a lot more and my blood pressure is a lot lower than it used to be. Im afraid that it might be getting too low and I can definately live without the side effects.
I looked up in a book what kind of headache I’ve been experiencing based on the symptoms, and it looks like a hypertension headache. It didn’t even sound like any other headache listed. I understand this means high blood pressure, but I was wondering… saving myself a trip to a doctor, how can I diagnose this myself?
I’m thinking I’d have to buy a blood pressure monitor, and take regular readings… totally doable. That would be better than making an appointment, waiting 2 weeks, and paying a co-pay to have him tell me to do that.

I just went to the doctor today and she told me that I have slightly high blood pressure (I don’t know the exact numbers) and I realized I don’t really know what blood pressure is! I know it is cause by obesity, eating bad foods, lack of exercise, etc… Why does exercising lower your bp? I heard it has something to do with your blood thinning? What are the two numbers? Any info would be helpful!
