1) Does everyone’s heat create the same pressure? Why?
2) Why is it important to place your arm in a horizontal position rather than letting it hang at your side when you take your blood pressure?

I took my blood pressure in my left arm and it was 127/79 but in my right arm it was 137/85. Why are they different? Is the left hand more accurate because it’s closest to the heart?

The result of the blood pressure reading at the doctor’s office is very important. The reading is recorded and if it is abnormal, a form of treatment is discussede, based on this one reading yet the way the doctor’s assistant take the blood pressure reading if improper could produce an incorrect reading. Some take it with arms down, some with arms extended, and others with the patient standing up. Each produced varying results. Isn’t it the correct way to have the arm patient sitting with the arm the same level as the heart?

My husband has just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and was put on a low sodium diet. Further blood tests show his potassium levels are too high, so he is to avoid high potassium foods. What I have found suggests avoiding any salt substitutes or lite salt products, avoid whole grain breads and cereals, milk, yogurt, etc. The "heart healthy" diet his doctor gave him suggests eating whole grains and using "lite" salt as well as low-fat dairy products. So how do you balance the two conflicting diets?

So yeah is it possible to have high cholesterol without suffering from hypertension? I ask it because hypothetically speaking your heart would have to work harder if you have veins clogged by cholesterol. If this is true if you have high cholesterol you will suffer from hypertension. Again this is just an hypothesis, im not sure and would like to know how this works. Any info is greatly appreciated! =[) THX!
