The Use of Blood Pressure Monitors in Hypertension
I’ve been having problems with my blood pressure for about 5 years now, and after my last checkup the doc insists that i lower it. She said it is way too high for my age (30) and I am at great risk so I am wandering what are some good suggestions for helping to lower it.
I am a new nursing student, and I am having a hard time getting an accurate blood pressure reading… It’s difficult to find the brachial pulse and then I can’t hear the systolic beats until its too late. Are there any tips anyone can give me, besides just practicing alot?
My father is 79 and takes blood pressure medicine so he can’t take any of the regular over the counter cold medicines. Because of glaucoma he can’t take Coricidin which is the usual alternative for people in his situation. Is there any medication, over the counter or by prescription, that he could take for coughing and congestion? I worry that on about the third night of not being able to sleep he’ll just not care and take one of the regular cold medicines and suffer a stroke or whatever adverse effects there are.
My psychiatrist told me that if my blood pressure stays high he will not want to prescribe my Adderall anymore. Thing is, I’ve always had high blood pressure, it aint the Adderall doc. But he says he has a hard time prescribing it when it tends to increase blood pressure. I have two days til my next visit with him to fix this. I still smoke, I still drink, I still eat salty food…what’s a boy to do?
The things where they wrap it around your arm and they pump it up, how do those work? How does it show you the blood pressure? I just don’t get how they know when to stop pumping, If your arm is fatter it will stop sooner right? So how does it work with the blood pressure? It’s confusing..
I went in for my physical today and my blood pressure is 148/92. I already eat low-fat organic food, do not drink anything but water, and exercise. Could it be caused by driving to the doctor’s office in a white out and residual stress from Christmas? (I live in Colorado and work retail.) What else can I do?
I’m only 10 pounds overweight having dropped 30 pounds in the fall. My blood pressure was fine before, but not so good now.
I have orthostatic hypotension. On my test, my blood pressure dropped so low it could no longer be calculated.I was just diagnosed but have had it for 6 years. I had my son 7 months ago and when I was pregnant I had preemclampsyia, my blood pressure reached 170/100. How could I have both high and low blood pressure?
