Blood pressure?
I took my blood pressure in my left arm and it was 127/79 but in my right arm it was 137/85. Why are they different? Is the left hand more accurate because it’s closest to the heart?
I’ll be 16 tomorrow

you don’t mention your age. there was a huge study done several years back that was just published a few months ago that showed a person who can keep their blood pressure closer to 110/70 instead of 120/80 has a 75% better chance of not having problems with hypertension in their older age. and of course this means less chance of kidney trouble, migraines, strokes, etc. if you are over 50, you should keep an eye on your pressure’s differences. one of the key indicators for a disecting aorta is a difference in blood pressure in each arm of 15 points. so if you notice a difference from one arm (say 120/80) to the other arm (say 137/87) you might want to get yourself checked out. it may be an aortic annurism or disecting aorta. it is true that blood pressures change from time to time and often within a matter of 15 mins sometimes. but this is not the norm. most times you blood pressures should be within 7 to 9 points (120/80 in left to 127/82 in right). consistently changing pressures that go up or down frequently, or are drastically different several times during the day, is not normal.
Yes you are correct! And you are also probably aware that the numbers will vary often. Sometimes within minutes! This is all normal! You should use the higher reading ( on your right arm) as your gauge. Your lookin’ pretty good. Are you trying to get down to 120?

You numbers may be slightly high. It would be a good idea to check your blood pressure regularly and if it gets progressively higher over time then you’ll want to talk to a doctor about it.
who knows why. the only thing that i can say is that be happy to be alive. ok 3 cheers to that
