There is no THC in Salvia..and it’s completely legal. It’s just from a Sage plant. Even if a cop wanted to arrest you for having it, he can’t. It’s not illegal to have, grow, or use it in any way. No worries.

How do we take care of a wound on a diabetic,and why does it take long for their wounds to heal?

The type of wound would dictate the type of dressing needing. Once it starts going necrotic (turning black) a wet-to-dry dressing with sterile saline is typically prescribed for wound debridement—when you peel the dressing off, it takes with it some of the dead tissue. Agressive IV antibiotic therapy is also common. Amputation often occurs as a last resort (but happens quite often).

The reason their wounds take so long to heal is 3 fold. After being diabetic for a long time, the high sugar level of the blood causes damage to the blood vessels, especially in the extremities. Eventually, blood flow to the area is just not what it needs to be. Because the blood flow isn’t as good, the damaged tissue doesn’t get the oxygen, nutrients, and immune system help that it needs to fight the infection.

Another factor that contributes is that high blood sugar kills nerve cells, leading to diabetic neuopathy–eventually, they have little to no sensation in their extremities. So many times they may get a small cut/blister on their feet, but not feel it or notice it, so it just gets bigger and bigger and gets infected before they notice it is there.

The other reason is because bacteria grows in sugar rich environments. Bacteria use sugar as food just like we do. People with a high blood sugar harbor more bacteria for infection, and the infection is harder to fight because of the adequate food supply.

The best bet for a diabetic to to monitor their sugar regularly, keep it under control, diet and exercise. Also, special care must be taken with the feet. Special diabetic socks should be worn to prevent blisters, and extreme care should be taken when clipping toe nails, etc. The feet should be inspected regularly for wounds or signs of infection.

When to test for diabetes….?

I ordered a home testing kit to test myself for diabetes, it’s been featured on two news programs and is 98% accurate so i decided to get it because my mum will not take me to the doctors to get tested. So i was just wondering when is the best time to test? I have to prick my finger and put my blood sample onto a strip, there’s two strips so i was thinking about testing first thing in the morning and then two hours after eating, what do you think? Please don’t tell me not to do home testing as my mum refuses to take me to a doctor so this is the next best thing i can do, if it comes out positive my mum will take me to the doctor but i need to know when is best to test. A normal fasting blood sugar (which is also the blood sugar a normal person will see right before a meal) is:

83 mg/dl (4.6 mmol/L) or less.

Many normal people have fasting blood sugars in the mid and high 70 mg/dl (3.9 mmol/L) range.

Though most doctors will tell you any fasting blood sugar under 100 mg/dl (5.6 mmol/L) is “normal”, there are several studies that suggest that testing with a fasting blood sugar in the mid 90 mg/dl (5 mmol/L) range often predicts diabetes that is diagnosed a decade later.
Post-Meal Blood Sugar (Postprandial)
Independent of what they eat, the blood sugar of a truly normal person is:

Under 120 mg/dl (6.6 mmol/L) one or two hours after a meal.

Most normal people are under 100 mg/dl (5.5 mmol/L) two hours after eating.
These are the real numbers. Don’t be fooled. It wouldn’t hurt to start to exercise. And eat a low glycemic diet. No matter what the outcome.

Yes, it’s extremely unhealthy to starve yourself.

Besides which, it doesn’t help with the dieting at all, because if you do go through periods of starving your body, it will simply store more fat when you ARE eating in order to get through these periods of “famine”.

Your muscles will be the first to go, because muscle tissue needs a steady influx of nutrients to maintain itself. Then stores of fat will be used. Basically, your body starts cannibalising itself.
In any case, it is a very unhealthy, and in the long term inefficient, way to lose weight.
Not to mention, prolonged fasting can lead to all kinds of secondary health problems, some of which could eventually become life-threatening.

You’d do much better switching to only eating fruits and vegetables if you are that desperate to lose weight.
