As technology advances, practicing or training otolaryngologists register in educational courses to refresh their surgical skills and stay abreast of these changes. While information is becoming available in several journals, there is a definite need for a single surgical atlas-like book that contains precise descriptions of the surgical techniques used in rhinology and sleep apnea surgery. Each chapter was written by surgeons with extensive experience in each topic who have already published on the specific procedure described. Each chapter contains diagrammatic or illustrative descriptions of surgical techniques and provides tips and pearls of wisdom to avoid complications when the procedures are performed. This comprehensive work of surgical information serves as a valuable resource for otolaryngologists in training to augment their surgical education and for practicing otolaryngologists as a review source to best approach the surgical pathologies they encounter in their practice of rhinology and treatment of sleep apnea.

In this revised edition of his best-selling book, formerly The Amazing Liver Cleanse, Andreas Moritz addresses the most common but rarely recognized cause of illness – gallstones congesting the liver. Twenty million Americans suffer from attacks of gallstones every year. In many cases, treatment merely consists of removing the gallbladder, at the cost of $5 billion a year. But this purely symptom-…
Most doctors consider diabetes a one-way street-once you have it, your only option is to manage the symptoms with a restricted diet, close monitoring of blood sugar, and expensive medications. Pharmacist Suzy Cohen shows that diabetes can be treated instead through safe, natural means, like food and vitamins, rather than strictly relying on prescription drugs. She shifts the focus away from glucose management to a whole body approach, using supplements, minerals, and dietary changes to lose weight, repair cell damage, improve insulin function, and reduce the side effects from prescription drugs, many of which rob nutrients from the body and cause additional symptoms. This 5-step program uses natural alternatives, such as drinking nutrition-packed green drinks, adding vitamin D and anti-inflammatory supplements, increasing fiber intake, and including minerals in the diet to help restore the body`s own supply of insulin. Diabetes without Drugs explains how patients can protect their heart, kidneys, eyesight, and limbs from the damage often caused by diabetes and shows the impact that the right foods and the right supplements can make in reducing blood sugar levels, aiding weight loss, and restoring vibrant health to everyone with diabetes.

I know patient B is suffering from diabetes mellitus but is it type I or II and why??
yep have found an insulin result
Patient A= 5.5 ng/ml
Patient B= 0.22 ng/ml
So Patient B is a Type I diabetic.
Thanks for your answers.
Could be type two since the numbers seem to be coming back down. Not enough info to tell for sure. If the patient were a type one and wasn’t treated, it would probably continue upward. The reason is, a type two produces insulin which, despite it not working all that well, will eventually bring the glucose levels down. An untreated type one has no insulin to bring the levels back to normal. Either way, this patient needs help.

Advances in Immunology, a long-established and highly respected publication, presents current developments as well as comprehensive reviews in immunology. With the advent of the worldwide obesity epidemic, a concurrent rise has occurred in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is affecting younger individuals-the disease is no longer exclusive to adulthood. Diabetic micro- and macrovascular complications are also occurring at an earlier age, leading to increasing demands and costs on the healthcare system. In addition, the morbidity, disability and premature death caused by diabetic complications create a huge burden to families, employers and society at large. Thankfully, there has been a tremendous growth in new therapeutic classes of medications to help manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. These agents target many of the pathophysiologic defects of the disease with fewer side effects than the older agents. Newer insulin formulations have more predictable kinetics so patients can achieve better glycemic control with less risk of hypoglycemia and weight gain. Insulin delivery devices have also improved to include higher quality insulin pens, finer and shorter pen needles, and more technologically advanced insulin pumps. As part of the Oxford American Endocrinology Library series, this handbook reviews the epidemiology and pathophysiology of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The content covers micro- and macrovascular diabetic complications, the array of glucose regulating therapies, treatment algorithms targeting the pathophysiologic defects of type 2 diabetes mellitus as well as strategies for macrovascular risk reduction via therapeutic lifestyle change (diet, exercise, smoking cessation), pharmacotherapeutic treatment of dyslipidemia and hypertension, bariatric surgery and subcutaneous insulin infusion therapy, among other topics. Because of the concise yet comprehensive nature of the handbook, this volume is an excellent point-of-care reference for the clinician who regulary treats obese and diabetic patients.

Diabetes can effect your eyesight. A low blood sugar can explain the dizziness.
Type one diabetes is where your pancreas shuts down and stops making insulin. Insulin is this stuff that controls the amount of sugar in your blood. With type 1, you have to either give yourself insulin with shots, or have a pump (like me). You have to constantly check your blood sugar. Hereditary, found mostly in younger people.
Type 2 is where your pancreas doesn’t completely shut down, but still makes less insulin that a normal persons pancreas would. This is very common with adults and is the type where you have to watch what you eat and is based on the diet. I’m pretty sure that this type you don’t have to have shots and give insulin. But you still have to constantly check your blood sugar.
If you are worried, go see your doctor and get tested for it. Its better to catch it early than find out late right as you are about to die like I did…
