lately i’ve had my blood pressure go to the dang roof when i get nervous, it’s almost like i can do it on command, my legs have also felt weak this past 2 months. my doctor says it’s just anxiety or “i’m too young to have high blood pressure”. when in fact i KNOW it’s high blood pressure. what should i do?
You are never too young to develop hypertension. If your physician actually made such a comment it would be reckless on their part. Having said that however you do not give any idea what your blood pressure readings have been. Blood pressure may elevate when a person becomes nervous but it will not ‘go through the roof’. Weakness in the lower extremities are not associated with hypertension. There may be an underlying process that is responsible for both the blood pressure finding and the leg weakness. Hyperthyroidism would be such an example. Please bear in mind that there are far too many limitations in this forum to actually diagnose someone. I would suggest that you return to your physician or that you seek an opinion from another physician. If I may be of further assistance however please let me know. If you would like my opinion I would need to know age, gender, ethnicity, height, weight, blood pressure readings, any other health conditions, any prescription / non-prescription / supplements that you take, smoking history, level of physical fitness, alcohol consumption, and caffeine consumption. I prefer direct email. johnerussomd@jhu.edu I wish you the very best of health and happiness and in all things may God bless. JR

As technology advances, practicing or training otolaryngologists register in educational courses to refresh their surgical skills and stay abreast of these changes. While information is becoming available in several journals, there is a definite need for a single surgical atlas-like book that contains precise descriptions of the surgical techniques used in rhinology and sleep apnea surgery. Each chapter was written by surgeons with extensive experience in each topic who have already published on the specific procedure described. Each chapter contains diagrammatic or illustrative descriptions of surgical techniques and provides tips and pearls of wisdom to avoid complications when the procedures are performed. This comprehensive work of surgical information serves as a valuable resource for otolaryngologists in training to augment their surgical education and for practicing otolaryngologists as a review source to best approach the surgical pathologies they encounter in their practice of rhinology and treatment of sleep apnea.

Can I use Tinactin (athletes foot cream) to treat a male yeast infection?
Hey, I keep having this reoccurring yeast infection. It makes me really itchy, especially on the inner thighs near my testies, as well as the scrotum, and the skin a little beneath that. Sometimes there is what appears to be a little irritated rash or something, but the minute I put some Tinactin on it, it helped right away, and minimized the appearance of a rash. I have never been able to be symptom free of this yeast infection for a few years now, and it’s a little embarrassing to go to a doctor for. Any suggestions? I am a diabetic too, and I find when I loose control of my sugars, it gets worse! Also, I am STI free.
It wouldn’t be reoccurring if you had it treated by a doctor.
You NEVER self medicate infections. NEVER. You can put something on it to make it far worse or to just make it last forever.
You can not use that cream to treat it.
Get up, get on the phone and make a doctors appointment. A simple round of anti-biotics will fix it.
I can’t believe you have had this for a year, have diabetes and still don’t grow a pair, go to the doctor and get it fixed.
You need to grow up and start taking care of your health.

What is a good attention grabber on soda and it’s health problems?
I have an article on soda that I have to write an analysis essay on. The main point of the article is that soda is bad for you because it causes health problems such as obesity and diabetes. I need an attention grabber. I was thinking maybe a question. Any thoughts?
Introduction Example for your paper:
There is a cure for diabetes – even type 1! Yes, many people and even educated doctors have convinced us that type 1 diabetics’ only solution are insulin pumps. Wrong. I want to share with you an incredible story about a young man who reversed his type 1 diabetes. (here is the story from youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPPGpVobyNo …write about his testimony) He achieved this only by eating all-natural raw foods, such as fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts, and was able to prove these doubting doctors wrong. Without-a-doubt, because of this truly amazing story, we are able to whiteness that what we eat has an immense effect on our health. We should start asking ourselves ‘what are we putting into our bodies’? As diseases, like Sergei boutenko’s type 1 diabetes, and as health insurance requests are on the rise, we need to take charge of our own lives, our own health. One of the worst things you can put into your body is Soda….
…that was just an idea of how you could start your paper. that’s a really rough draft, so you need to make it sound a little better/more professional…but you get the picture.

With the advent of the worldwide obesity epidemic, a concurrent rise has occurred in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is affecting younger individuals-the disease is no longer exclusive to adulthood. Diabetic micro- and macrovascular complications are also occurring at an earlier age, leading to increasing demands and costs on the healthcare system. In addition, the morbidity, disability and premature death caused by diabetic complications create a huge burden to families, employers and society at large. Thankfully, there has been a tremendous growth in new therapeutic classes of medications to help manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. These agents target many of the pathophysiologic defects of the disease with fewer side effects than the older agents. Newer insulin formulations have more predictable kinetics so patients can achieve better glycemic control with less risk of hypoglycemia and weight gain. Insulin delivery devices have also improved to include higher quality insulin pens, finer and shorter pen needles, and more technologically advanced insulin pumps. As part of the Oxford American Endocrinology Library series, this handbook reviews the epidemiology and pathophysiology of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The content covers micro- and macrovascular diabetic complications, the array of glucose regulating therapies, treatment algorithms targeting the pathophysiologic defects of type 2 diabetes mellitus as well as strategies for macrovascular risk reduction via therapeutic lifestyle change (diet, exercise, smoking cessation), pharmacotherapeutic treatment of dyslipidemia and hypertension, bariatric surgery and subcutaneous insulin infusion therapy, among other topics. Because of the concise yet comprehensive nature of the handbook, this volume is an excellent point-of-care reference for the clinician who regulary treats obese and diabetic patients.
"This work, featuring a reading level appropriate for high school audiences and above, is recommended for academic and public libraries."-Library JournalThe Encyclopedia of Obesity is as much of a reference resource as it is a tool to raise awareness in the medical and public health communities. With almost 500 entries, these two volume summarize pertinent topics in obesity and related health conditions, including molecular biology, psychology, medicine, public health and policy, food science, environmental health, and pharmaceuticals. The editor has chosen topics that capture the current climate of obesity research while still addressing and defining the core concepts related to this condition. Based on a theme of ?Moving Forward in an Ever Expanding World? articles address topics for a changing society that is slowly adapting to accommodate obesity, including recent lawsuits, new options for medical and dietary treatment, and the importance of prevention in children.Key Themes· Biological or Genetic Contributors to ObesityB7 Children and ObesityB7 Dietary Interventions to Treat ObesityB7 Disordered Eating and ObesityB7 Environmental Contributors to ObesityB7 Health Implications of ObesityB7 Medical Treatments for ObesityB7 New Research Frontiers on ObesityB7 Obesity and BehaviorB7 Obesity and Ethnicity/RaceB7 Obesity as a Public Health CrisisB7 Psychological Influences/Outcomes on ObesityB7 Societal Influences/Outcomes on ObesityB7 Women and ObesityB7 Worldwide Prevalence of ObesityThe Encyclopedia of Obesity is intended to serve as a general and nontechnical resource for biology, sociology, health studies, and other social science students, teachers, scholars, researchers, and anyone in the general public who wishes to understand the development of obesity as i
The past generation has witnessed striking increases in the prevalence of childhood obesity and co-morbidities including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and fatty liver disease. Despite a wealth of investigation, there is considerable controversy regarding the etiology of childhood obesity and the optimal approaches for prevention and treatment. This book will re-assess the roles of genetic and environmental factors in the pathogenesis of childhood obesity and will review critically new studies of the effects of lifestyle, pharmacologic, and surgical interventions. This evidence-based approach will provide a useful resource for all healthcare providers concerned with the evaluation and care of children with nutritional and metabolic disease and with the societal implications of the obesity epidemic.
Although recognised clinically for some time as an important condition that increases risk of ill-health in affected individuals, it is only recently that obesity had been recognised as a population-wide problem that requires preventive action. Obesity is a major contributor to diseases and disability, the associated health costs are enormous and obesity has already reached epidemic proportions in many countries, and incidence is continuing to increase in children and adults. Disturbingly the epidemic is not confined to developed countries, with many developing countries and those in transition affected. While recognised as a major population health problem, our understanding of the causes of the epidemic is poor, there has been relatively little population-based research that has focused on the prevention of unhealthy weight gain, and as a consequence knowledge regarding how and where best to intervene is limited.Revised and updated and now part of the From Aetiology to Public Health series, Obesity Epidemiology provides a scholarly text that assists those concerned with understanding prevalence and trends in obesity; its health, social and economic consequences, the underlying causes of the obesity epidemic, the existing evidence regarding strategies to prevent obesity, and the potential of public health initiatives to impact on the population prevalence of obesity. This edition not only provides a thorough update of the material presented in the previous edition (entitled Obesity Prevention and Public Health), but also includes twelve new chapters that cover the epidemiology of obesity in children and adults, and the potential of public health approaches to its prevention. This book will be of interest to all those working in public health and epidemiology; health policy makers, and clinicians and health practitioners working in the related fields of nutrition, exercise and diabetes.About the se
Despite adults` best preventive efforts, childhood obesity is on the rise in most areas of the world, and with it the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and other formerly adult-onset conditions. Epidemiology of Obesity in Children and Adolescents takes the global ecological approach that is needed to understand the scope of the problem and its multiple causes and mechanisms, and to aid in developing more effective prevention and intervention programs. In the book`s first half, experts present a descriptive summary of youth obesity trends in ten world regions, broken down by age group, gender, socioeconomic status, and risk factors. Complementing these findings, part two reviews the evidence base regarding the variables, separately and in combination, having the most significant impact on young people`s development of obesity, including:. Genetic and nutrigenomic factors.. Environmental and psychosocial factors, such as family shopping and eating habits and access to healthful foods.. Neuroendocrine regulation.. Prenatal and neonatal factors (e.g., gestational diabetes of the mother).. Dietary factors, from nutrient content to young people`s food preferences.. Physical activity versus sedentary behavior.Epidemiology of Obesity in Children and Adolescents is necessary reading for the range of professionals involved in curtailing this epidemic, including public health specialists, epidemiologists, pediatricians, nurses, nutritionists, psychologists, health educators, and policymakers.
Etiology and management are the main focus of researchers and clinicians trading views on how best to understand and deal with diabetes mellitus. Among the questions they confront are whether the steep increase is cases is due solely to the worldwide epidemic of obesity, or whether genetics or some other factor is contributing; and is the best use of resources to treat the diabetes, the obesity, or the complications that arise from one or both. I take ambien for sleep and recently i’v had trouble going to sleep.I notice the pill are different,?
I take ambient for sleep because I have sleep apnea, recently the pills are not working .I always got these pills that were long and white 10 mg,recently the pills were round and white10mg.I spoke to the pharmacist who says there is no different but I say there is. Am I right What going on?I think there placebos.
There is no difference, I’ve taken both the round and the long skinny pills.
After a while, ambien becomes less and less effective as you build up a tolerance. This took about a week for me, after which the doctor told me to take two of them. Ambien is terribly addictive, and the longer you take it, the less effective it is, and the longer it will take you to recover from having taken it.
I suffered four months of severe insomnia and anxiety when I quit taking ambien. My doctor told me it would take me six months to recover from taking ambien. Maybe you should quit while you can and find non-drug alternatives?

What is the Most Accurate Home Blood Pressure Monitor?
I’m looking for information and reviews for locating the most accurate home blood pressure monitor. My grandmother has high blood pressure that needs to be checked at home so I need to pick one up pronto. I’ve been looking around online but haven’t had much success on finding good information about these machines.
Here are a couple things I need to know…
What manufacturer makes the most accurate home blood pressure monitor?
Is there a difference between brands and models?
How much do home blood pressure monitors cost?
Where is the best place to get one?
If you have experience with this subject or own a quality home blood pressure monitor I want to hear from you. Preferably rather quickly.
You are not alone in your search for the best and most accurate home blood pressure monitor. We had to pick one up for my pops who also has high blood pressure. The first one we got was a piece of junk. I think we picked it up at target or something and it rarely seemed to work correctly.
I started doing some research online and discovered that a company called Omron is the top manufacturer according to most physicians and actual users. Panasonic also makes some pretty good ones but they aren’t as popular as Omron.
Your search doesn’t stop there though because Omron has a bunch of different models available at many different price points. There is a great article and home blood pressure monitor review of the best Omron unit at:
The information on that page should answer the rest of your questions and get you connected with the most accurate home blood pressure monitor pretty quickly. Hope that helps.

As a teenager I weighed over 300 lbs. I have now lost 80+ pounds and exercise and run regularly. Before my heart rate and blood pressure were up, 60′s-70′s and 140-150/90-100 respectively. Now my heart rate is down to 50′s but my blood pressure is still high. I know my resting heart rate is lower due to my heart being stronger and pumping more blood volume with each beat due to me being athletic now. But why is my blood pressure still high? Is it because of the slow beating? I have no family history of high blood pressure nor do I consume loads of salt.
