Your mum seems to be talking about (and which you may be having) what we call in the U.K. an ambulatory BP monitor, this just takes your BP, at regular intervals, over a period of time, the tightness of the cuff depends on how high your BP is, and also how sensitive the machine is, it is not normally painful, although sometimes uncomfortable ( similar to someone gently squeezing your arm, you have probably already had your BP checked manually by a Dr or Nurse, it is just like this, only on a more regular basis.

What works better for sleep apnea? The chin strap or the mouthpiece?
My husband wakes me up just about every night b/c when I snore I all of a sudden stop breathing. Majority of the time I wake up with headaches and sometimes I am fatigue. I clearly have sleep apnea & was just wondering if anyone knows which works best of the chin strap or mouthpiece to stop the snoring & help with the sleep apnea. A sleep study you just go in and spend the night while they monitor your sleep. I have tried all masks and the full face is best for me. I went in with 2 other people and smoked 1 1/2 joints yesterday last night around 9 and forgot that I have a drug test today at 3 or 4. I weigh about 125 lbs and NEVER smoke pot. Will this small amount show up in my system at 3 p.m. today from 9 p.m. last night? I am going to get a drug test from Walgreens, but worry that if they put it under the GSM instead of doing a dipstick test, that I might fail it and I can’t afford to. Advice? I’m drinking plenty of water this morning. What else?

I attended a court ruled drug class and learned that marijuana has a halflife in your system. How long it takes to leave your system depends on how much you smoke. But the time maxes out at around 45 days. One smoking session for someone with a clean system takes about 3-4 days to be clean. Smoke 2 days later and then have to wait about a week, and so on. The time it will take roughly doubles every time you smoke until it maxes at about 45 days to be clean. So if you are maxed out and you wait about 2 weeks and then smoke again, you’re basically back to 45 days.
This also depends on the test. Most job drug tests only test down to about 100 nanograms, which isn’t dead accurate but will pick up if you are a smoker obviously. Court-appointed tests can test anywhere down to 10-20 nanograms, which is very accurate, and can also detect high levels of water, and any other drug test liquids. You can not fool those tests, and drinking water and tea does nothing for getting weed out of your system at all. The ONLY way to get it out is time, because it is in your blood.

Okay.. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and since last Monday I have been keeping up with my sugar levels with a meter, which has not been hard at all. My levels have stayed good. I was also given Ketostix to test my ketones with my first urine of the day. Here are my questions, if I go to the bathroom several times a night, when is my first urine of the day? Also, my ketones have been in the small to moderate range. What can I do to get them down? What does it mean when ketones are in the small to moderate range? My diabetic counselor wasn’t too clear on it. My sugars are fine, this is my main worry right now. I’m doing everything I can to make sure my bean gets here healthy and this is really messing with my head! Thanks ladies
I am measuring ketones as well and I didn’t do this with my first pregnancy, so forgive me for being vague, but my understanding of it was that you will measure positive for ketones if you go too long without eating. My nutritionist doesn’t want me to go more than 10 hours without eating which if you think about it gets difficult at night. So I have to eat a snack right before bed, something with protein but they also want it to have carbohydrates. So I eat something like peanut butter whole wheat toast with a glass of milk, or some cottage cheese and fruit. This is supposed to keep me from measuring positive for ketones.
I was told if I get up in the middle of the night to pee not to sweat it, just use the pee from when I really get up in the morning for real. It takes so little urine it’s not a problem.
They told me to call right away if I get a reading in the moderate range. I’m sorry, I don’t really know what the urgency is for, but those were my instructions. If I get small a few days in a row I am also supposed to call. Good luck with it!

My husband age 52 was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic about 2 yrs ago. He consistantly gets blood work 4 times a year and takes Metformin (Glucophage,) for this condition. He has always seen the Nurse Practioner at the Dr’s office. His blood test results have been 6.5 for over a year now, and the Nurse Practioner has said he was doing fine. Today he goes in to review his bloodwork, which again was 6.5 but this time saw the Doctor. He said his blood sugar level was too high and DOUBLED his dose of Metformin. He’s all upset now and screaming at me (like it’s MY fault somehow??) I don’t understand why the Doctor did this, and of course my husband was too scared or too stupid to ask any questions (it’s alot easier to just pick of the phone and scream at his wife.)
When he checks his bloodsugar with the meter thingy it’s always between 121-126. I know it’s supposed to be 90-120, but it’s only slightly over that…Some advice here please would be very much appreciated!!
