My little boy (nearly 4) eats like a horse, is thin (not really underweight – more wiry) and has behaviour problems. I notice that after eating anything with carbs in he becomes very energetic. He can become very aggressive when hungry and has mood swings. I have taken him to the doctors and they did a simple urine test and it came back negative. I wonder what else could cause these symptoms?
My son’s main symptom was wetting the bed alot after years of being dry (he was 7 at diagnosis). He was a little more thirsty than usual and though we hadnt noticed as he was dressing himself, he had lost a little bit of weight. He was ever soooooo tired all the time and sometimes complained of his eyes being blurry. All of which are symptoms of undiagnosed diabetes.
Please try to be reassured by the doctors urine test, as if he did have diabetes it would have surely been a positive test.
I wouldnt wish type 1 diabetes on any child as its a constant juggling act, needles, carb counting, finger pricks and a whole boat of emotional issues to deal with on top so thank your lucky stars that it isnt diabetes. Maybe try different foods (keep a food diary) and see if you can find out what sends his behaviour different and eliminate foods that effect him so.

I’m 19 years old and a male. I weigh around 270 and am 6’2″. My doctor has recently informed me that I am at risk of developing diabetes if i do not get my weight under control. For the last three months i have strictly been following a low carb no sugar diet, and have been doing intense cardio exercises for an hour a day, 5 days a week. Having only lost three pounds in the three months, it seems like i need a boost. Is adderall that boost? If not are there any other suggestions? Any other medication or herbal supplement?

Intense cardio: describe it to me, please. Are you lifting weights as well? Are you watching your caloric intake? How often are you eating–are you sure you’re not over- or under-feeding?
Your boost should come from switching up your training regime; maybe even undertaking HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) programs instead of sustained long-duration cardio… because that doesn’t really help drop the pounds after a short period of adaptation. HIIT gets harder as you get fitter. Lift weights!

Which Stethoscope brand: narrowed it to MDF or Kila?
It seems like everything I purchase I need to reasearch the hell out of, well here is another to add to the list. I am interested in purchasing a good quality scope for under 50 bucks and narrowed it down to two brands: MDF and Kila. Littmanns are just to damn expensive for my blood and read a few reviews that the lower priced ones are not that good.
I am not expecting to hear a mouse fart from 50 yards but something that would amplify cleanly what is being auscultated and muffle surrounding noise (ex. sounds strange but on my current prestige I can hear the pressure of my fingers touching/rubbing on the diaphragm while pressing down) would be great. So MDF or Kila….which brand do you think I should buy? Thanks for the peek.
I would still save up and buy the Littmann II, you can find it online for $69 dollars and you will be glad about spending the extra $20.

temp pulse respiration’s blood pressure and the fifth vital sign… pain! and your heart rate will increase to compensate for a low blood pressure. think of it this way… the blood needs to get around to all the tissues in your body because the blood carries oxygen and your tissues need oxygen to live. if your BP is low, which may be caused by a decreased fluid volume i.e. from dehydration (the less blood in your vessels the lower the pressure in your vessels) then your heart will beat faster in order to move the blood and oxygen around faster and get it back to the heart faster so that it can be re-oxygenated. The less you’ve got to work with the harder you have to work to keep the machine going. Pain produces anxiety and stimulates the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) your heart rate will increase as well as your respiration’s as your body prepares for action. respirations and heart rate up = more blood and oxygen to your muscles and the more prepared you are to fight or flight.
