If you want a good quality stethoscope you will have to shell out a little bit of money. the Sprague is definitely a better choice, but I’ve always preferred Litman for quality. A high quality stethoscope usually goes for about 300 dollars, any more and your getting ripped off, and any less and you may have quality issues.

The heart must work harder to pump blood through the narrowed arteries. If the condition persists, damage to the heart and blood vessels is likely, increasing the risk for stroke, heart attack, and kidney or heart failure. Often called the “silent killer,” hypertension usually causes no symptoms until it reaches a life-threatening stage.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the US and a leading cause of disability among adults. Stroke is not an accident but occurs in relation to a number of risk factors or antecedents. Hypertension is the most important modifiable risk factor for stroke, and blood pressure level may play an important role in determining outcome after acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Hypertension remains poorly controlled in the community at-large, and once stroke occurs clinicians are not certain about proper management of blood pressure during the acute, subacute and chronic periods after stroke. Given the importance placed on hypertension as a risk factor for stroke and new data which is now available from clinical trials regarding management of hypertension for stroke prevention and after stroke, a compendium is needed to concisely summarize the available data on hypertension and stroke and direct clinicians about proper treatment of blood pressure. This text will address the epidemiology, mechanism, and pathophysiology of hypertension and blood pressure in relation to stroke and other brain sequelae of abnormal blood pressure, results of clinical trials demonstrating best suggested practice modalities to manage blood pressure and hypertension, and provide practical management tips for controlling blood pressure and hypertension. The book will be a valuable asset to medical students, resident physicians, practicing physicians, and other health care professionals who treat stroke patients or deal with persons at high-risk for stroke.
This book is not intended as a full detailed report on hypertension and related disorders, but instead focuses on particular issues in hypertension. The presence of hypertension in patients with diabetes substantially increases the risk for both cardiovascular and renal diseases and is associated with a 7.2-fold increase in mortality, whereas in those with diabetes and diabetic nephropathy, hypertension causes a 37-fold increase in mortality.Hypertension in type 1 diabetes generally results from the underlying nephropathy and in type 2 diabetes it usually occurs in the context of the cardio- metabolic syndrome. Understanding the pathophysiological context and the overall cardiovascular risk assessment together with the current therapeutic modalities for people with diabetes and hypertension is a sine qua non for effective management of this growing patient population.In this book we present to the primary care providers as well as to the sub-specialists an integrative approach to hypertension and diabetes including lifestyle and pharmacological approaches, focusing on overall cardiovascular risk reduction with special emphasis on high- risk population. God I watch too many “a haunting” shows!!!!! So I was putting my old family pics [1900-1970's] in albums pretty much by myself. And now I’m freaking out. All of the people in those pics are passed on to Heaven, and I know I shouldn’t be afraid but I started freaking out my husband thinks i’m crazy. I think now that their ghosts are going to haunt me. I’m especially afraid of my great aunt’s ghost I know she was a beautiful woman passed on in 1967 but i have all of her yearbooks and her pictures and i read her death certificate and i read too far into it and had to google it. she had diabetes and gangrene. i did not know what gangrene was. now i’m absolutely panicking. i think their ghosts are going to come after me for having their stuff. please calm me down please im absolutely freaking out in tears and my husband thinks im crazy =( im sooooo f*cking scared!!!!!
