Littman makes very fine quality stethoscopes, probably the best out there. Blood pressure cuffs aren’t quite so critical for being highly precise in their readings. A variation of a few points one way or another isn’t going to be critical Subtle chest, abdominal and heart sounds can be CRITICALLY important, so the Littman stethoscope will come in handy there. Of course, it’s not the tools that makes a mechanic, it’s the training and experience. Carrying an expensive stethoscope is nice, but learning how to interpret what you hear is much more important. You can pick up MOST stuff you really need to hear with a $5 stethoscope. By the way, keep a VERY close eye on that Littman. They have a nasty habit of sprouting legs and walking away.

thc/marijuana detox…fast?! helpp!!!?

ok. pretty much imma tell it lie it is. i smoke pot,i enjoy it and love it. dont judge it until you try it, so dont post stupid thinks on here about how smoking is bad and i shouldnt do it. my parents are drug testing me in 12 days. i need my system to come up clean. i need help, im gonna stop and im gunna drink alot of water for the next 12 days and im planning on buying a detox kit monday. but ant other to help get thc out of my system?

Okay, calm down about it. It really isn’t that big a deal. You have 12 days, I suggest you work out as much as possible for the next week or so (no longer than 7 days, i’ll explain in a min). Then stop, working out will cause the thc to leave your system (thc is held in fat, thus the reason for exercise). For the last couple days don’t exercise as much (so the thc leaving slows). If you have a detox kit, go ahead and use it on the day of the test.

Many people might argue with me but I’m going to tell you like it is. Don’t waste your time taking viniger shots everyday, or drinking tons and tons of fluid for the next 12 days (it will just leave you feeling really bloated). Since the thc is held mainly in fat, the next day thc is just going to fill your system again, thus the idea occurs to drink more water. Just make sure (especially if you don’t get a detox kit) to drink about a gallon of fluids in a 1-2 hour period before your test. If your lucky they won’t do it right in the morning, and you might have a chance to make this all work out (2 points for optimisum). Then after the gallon of fluids, take a vitimin b-12 (your detox kit should have one/two). This will give you piss color back. Unless you take vitimins daily though, I suggest you drink another cup or two of liquid and take a piss, so the color isn’t such a neon piss color.

It would help if you stated how often you smoke (since your a “kid” I assume daily, although you don’t have to be a kid to do that). If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Edit: Also, one more thing. In case you are wondering how lond it stays in your system, it depends on how often you smoke, your height/weight. HOWEVER, marijuana won’t stay in your system longer than 45 days (It’s either 45 or 30, can’t remember. No weed tonight so I’m not thinkin straight XD). I’ll save you the long scientific explaination about it though, just FYI though, if you don’t wait the 45 days, and smoke, however many days you have left to wait, just doubled (stopping at 45). From what I’ve found, this is the explaination of marijuana’s “half-life”. If you haven’t taken Biology yet you’ll learn about half-life soon enough.

Has anybody here ever done an extended water-only fast?

For health reasons, I’m thinking about trying a water-only fast, perhaps anywhere from 10 to 30 days in length. I am a 63-year-old male, 5’9″ 250 pounds, with high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes (pills, not insulin), high fasting blood sugar, and low HDL, and a history of a mild stroke in 2003. My health care professionals all advise me to NOT do a fast. Thirty years ago, when I was much younger and healthier, I did fast for 10 days and lost 25 pounds, and I felt great all during the fast … at least until I ended the fast with a big greasy cheeseburger (big mistake). Anyway, it seems that there is quite a difference between mainstream medical advice and actual research studies. Practicing doctors advise against fasting, especially for diabetics, while numerous clinical studies seem to indicate that fasting has demonstrated lots of benefits. So … does anybody here have any personal experience with long-term fasting?

How concerning is a blood pressure reading of 150/100?

My blood pressure has always been normal at around 120/78. Over the last few months I have noticed a major difference in my BP usually around 150/100. The top number is sometimes a bit higher (in the upper 150s) but today is the first time I have noticed the bottom number reach 100 (although it is usually in the upper 90s). Today it was 151/100. I have experienced a transient ischemic attack several months ago (my blood pressure was fine then) and have also had several utis over the past year. I have also had some strange vision changes that I just began to notice about 3 months ago, about the same time the blood pressure problems started. I get nagging, but not very painful headaches a few times/day. I know I need to see a doctor, but in the meantime I just want to get as much information/feedback as I can. (I usually check my BP at walmart or with a home monitor) I am a 24 year old female. Any information/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The top number-systolic is high for a 24 year old except perhaps after heavy excersize.
That said the diostolic-bottom number of 100..which is heart at rest is much too high for a gal of your age.That plus the headaches and other symptoms I would NOT fool around with this.
it is time to see an internist and prevent any future problems.
